The mission of the Albert Lea Area Learning Center is to empower students in special circumstances to achieve personal and academic success. The ALC provides high school programming for students in grades 9-12, as well as students past their graduation date, to earn credits toward an Albert Lea Area School diploma. Beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, the ALC began the Early Middle College Program in partnership with Riverland Community College. Students who meet criteria may attend RCC classes concurrently with the ALC. The ALC also provides after school and summer intervention programming as well as high school credit recovery programming. The Albert Lea Area Learning Center provides programming for students in the Albert Lea Area School District as well as several neighboring districts. Students are also active in the Minnesota Association of Alternative Programs and STARS (Success, Teamwork, Achievement Recognition, Self-Esteem).
